Ayurveda, the knowledge of life is considered as one of the oldest stream of knowledge on health and healing. It is studied and researched under numerous titles in our contemporary world, but it has a mystic and mythological background. Ayurveda according to the myths is ‘Anadi’ having no beginning like the universe.

The 5000 year old history of Ayurveda is full of myths as well as scientific use of human logics. It was meant not only for human beings but also for plants and animals.

Ayurveda study the ‘functional body’ through the tridoshas vatha, pitha and kapha. The structure is represented by saptha dhatus or seven tissues.

    Ayurveda Care (Swastha Vritha)
    Swastha Vritha is the Ayurvedic branch of wellness and positive health. Prevention of diseases and improvising the quality of life are the primary concerns here.

    Ayurveda Cure

    The curative aspects of Ayurveda is clinically proven over 5000 years. This is discussed under ‘Roga Nidana’ – causes and Etio pathology and Roga Chikitsa – treatment of diseases. Ayurvedic treatments are broadly having two basic approaches to balance the Doshas. They are Sodhana or purification and Samana or pacification.
    Panchakarma or the five fold purification methods and cleansings are characteristic to Ayurveda. Panchakarma -Strengthens the tissues, give acuity of senses, improves digestion and slows down the aging process. They are :
    • Vamana – Emesis
    • Virechana – Purgation
    • Nasya – Nasal cleansings
    • Niruha – Decoction enema (like colonic irrigation)
    • Anuvasana – Oil enema
    • Raktha moksha or blood letting is another method of purification
    Samana or pacification involves the following
    • Panchanam - Digestives
    • Deepanam – Carminatives
    • Kshuth – Fasting
    • Thrit – Thirst
    • Vyayama – Exercise
    • Athapa – Sunlight
    • Marutha – wind
    Poorva karma
    • Snehana – Oleation
    • Swedana – Fomentation or sudation
